Design is what your website looks like. Development is everything that makes it work: how fast it loads, whether everyone can read it, whether search engines and AI assistants understand it, and whether it keeps working once it's live. You'll never see most of it. Your customers will feel all of it.
What development gives you
Pages that load before people give up. Images sized for the screen they're shown on, and fonts served from your own domain rather than someone else's. Light pages load fast on any phone, and use less energy every time they do.
A website everyone can use. Real headings a screen reader can follow, links that work from a keyboard, and text contrast measured on the finished page rather than guessed from the colour codes.
Understood by search engines and AI assistants. Your business details are written into your pages in the format they read: what you do, where you do it, and how to reach you. So they don't have to guess.
Nothing to log into, nothing for you to update. No database, no admin login and no plugins. So there's no weekly round of updates, no password for anyone to guess, and nothing quietly going out of date behind your website.
Checked before it goes live. Every page is checked automatically before it goes live: that it's readable, that nobody is left looking at an old version, and that everything on it is properly licensed. If a check fails, the change waits until it's fixed.
Development doesn't stop at launch
A website is usually built, launched and left alone, and it starts ageing the day it goes live. Ours don't, because the development carries on for as long as your website is with us.
When the tools improve, your website gets them. The building blocks your website is made from are upgraded as better versions arrive, and your website is rebuilt on them.
When the standard rises, so does your website. We keep our own standard for speed, accessibility, security and search in line with current best practice. When it moves, every website we look after is checked against it and brought up to it.
When something isn't right, we fix it. It's part of the plan, not a callout.

Where design ends and development begins
Web design and development are often sold separately, by different people. Here they're one job. Design decides what your website looks like and how it reads. Development makes that design fast, readable by everyone and understood by search engines, and keeps it that way. Hosting then gets it to every visitor, and management takes responsibility for all of it.
What we don't build
We don't build online shops, booking systems, member logins or web forms. They need a database and logins, the very parts this kind of website leaves out, and they bring the risks that come with them. We'd rather tell you now.

Already have a website?
We don't patch or add to someone else's platform. If your website is built elsewhere, we rebuild it as real code, keeping what works.

Website development is part of every plan, not a separate bill. Our Business plan is $100 + GST a month, with the design, development, hosting, security and every change included. No build fee, and you can cancel any time.

Do you offer web development services on their own?
No. Development is part of every plan, with the design, hosting and management that go with it, for one monthly fee.
Will my website go out of date?
No. The development carries on after launch. When the tools improve or the standard rises, your website is brought up to it, as part of the plan.
Is it built on WordPress?
No. There's no WordPress, no page builder and no plugins. Your website is written as real code and published as finished pages.
Can you add a shop or a booking system later?
No. Those need the database and logins this kind of website leaves out. If you need one, we'll tell you, and a website builder may well be the better choice.
