WEB DESIGN

Web design, built around your business

Your website is usually the first thing someone checks before they call you. So our web design starts with what your business actually does and who you are trying to reach, not with a template that has your logo dropped into it.

What the design work gives you

What the design has to do

A small business website has one job on the day it matters: someone has heard your name, they are checking you out before they call, and they decide in seconds whether you look like the real thing.

Everything in the design serves that moment.

It has to look like a business that is still going. Nothing dates a company faster than a website that clearly stopped being looked after in 2019.

It has to be readable. Proper sizes, real contrast, short lines. Most of the people deciding about you are not twenty-five with perfect eyesight.

It has to work on a phone, in the sun, on a bad connection, one-handed. That's what responsive web design means: one design that fits every screen, from a phone to a desktop.

It has to be obvious what to do next. Your contact details as plain, selectable text, in the footer of every page, never hidden behind a form.

It has to load before they give up. A design that only looks good once four megabytes have arrived is not a good design.

The design decisions we make so you don't have to

Most website tools hand you a blank page and a thousand choices, and that is where small business website design goes wrong. We make these decisions once, properly, and apply them to your website:

You still get to say what you think of all of it, on the live preview. You just don't have to start from nothing.

What we don't design

No online shops, no booking systems, no logins, and no web forms. That is not a limitation of the design work; those are different products with different risks, and we say so plainly.

How it happens

  1. 01.

You send us what you've got. Logo, photographs, the words you already use, or just a description of the business.

  2. 02.

You see a first draft within days, as a live preview in your browser.

  3. 03.

You tell us what to change. When you're happy, we build it properly and put it live.

Already have a website?

We don't take over websites built on other platforms. We rebuild yours on ours, keeping what works, and then look after it from there.

Design is where it starts

Design is the part you see and approve. Getting it to load quickly, read well for everyone and make sense to search engines is development's job, and keeping it that way is what hosting and management are for. All four are part of the same monthly fee.

What it costs

$100 +GST /mo

Web design is part of every plan, not a separate bill. Our Business plan is $100 + GST a month, with the design, hosting, security and every change included. No build fee, and you can cancel any time.

Questions people ask

Will my website look like everyone else's?

No. We design around your business rather than filling in a template, so two Chur websites don't look alike.

Can I see it before it goes live?

Yes. You see it as a live preview in your browser, usually within days, and you tell us what to change.

Can you use my logo and photographs?

Yes. If you already have a website, we keep what works and improve the rest.

What if I want it changed later?

Email us. Changes are included, and every couple of years we redesign it properly.

How are you different from other web design companies?

We design, build, host and look after your website for one monthly fee, so it keeps getting better after launch instead of being built once and left. And you see the design as a live preview before anything goes live.

How much does website design cost for a small business?

Most web designers quote a build fee first, then bill hosting, maintenance and changes as separate lines afterwards. The number you are quoted at the start is often not the number you end up paying.

Chur has no build fee. Design is part of the monthly fee rather than a separate purchase, so there is no design cost to work out on its own. What you pay depends only on which plan suits the website, and the plans are set out on the pricing page.

It also means the design is never finished, signed off and invoiced. If it needs changing next year, you ask.
