Who it's for
Owners of large vans, motorhomes and minibuses, who are often turned away elsewhere. The motorhome crowd skews older still.
To know straight away they won't be turned away.
So vans, motorhomes and minibuses get half of the first screen, in yellow.
To know their vehicle fits.
So door height, bay length, the pit and the maximum weight, in a plain list.
To ring and book.
So the number is in the header on every screen, one tap away on a phone.
The proposition
The vehicles other centres can't take are welcome here.
First screen
Two halves: cars and light vans, then vans, motorhomes and minibuses in the brand's yellow, so a big vehicle is never second best.
Every section
Answers one question an owner really asks. Which class is my vehicle? Will it fit? How much is it? What if it fails?
Every screen
Calling is the easiest thing to do, because the number sits in the header wherever you are on the page, ready to tap.

What they needed
A brand new test centre with no website, and a domain that only showed a parking page. They needed one page that told van and motorhome owners straight away that their vehicle fits. It had to work on a phone, make calling the easiest thing to do, and be ready to grow into online booking later.
The decisions we made, and why
- 01.
Lead with the vehicles other centres turn away.
Search data showed few sites compete for Class 7, the large goods vans, though people search for it often. So vans, motorhomes and minibuses get equal billing with cars from the first screen, and the site never uses servicing words, because the centre only tests.
- 02.
One page, on purpose.
A new test centre with no website needed one message across, fast: we can take your van. A single page did that, live four days after the first build. Every section answers a question people actually ask, calling is the easiest thing to do, and the page is built to take online booking when it comes.
- 03.
A booking form that doesn't book is worse than none.
We built the booking form as designed, but it could send nothing until a real booking system was chosen. A form that looks like it books you in, but doesn't, lets a customer down at the exact moment they're ready. So it came out at launch, the phone number became the main action, and the form waits in the project's history for the day booking arrives.
- 04.
Answer the real questions, and only the true ones.
The questions section is built from what people actually search: Class 7, motorhomes, same day, how long it takes, cost and retests. A question is only marked up for search engines once its answer is complete.
- 05.
Photos cut to the box they sit in.
Every photo was made from the original phone files and cropped to the exact shape of its space at each screen size, with location details stripped out. No pixel is sent that is never shown. A build check fails if any photo's shape is more than 2% off its frame.
- 06.
Counting visitors without watching them.
Plausible counts visits on the live site only, without cookies or personal data, so there's no banner between a customer and the phone number, and there's an opt-out on the privacy page.
Around the site
Arnie's is one page, and we're proud of it. We sell one-page websites. Each section further down answers the next question a driver has.
